He didnt decide to become a pilot because of consoling crowds, he is doing this for himself, for that feeling he feels deep inner when he is all alone just him and his fighting plane. He knows if he considers his fate today, and die, this wont dumbfound them loss. He writes this poem stating that he became an Airman because he emergencyed to, not to delight someone, and that this war is nothing like a aversion to him he loves what he does and are ok with the fact the he piece of tail die among the clouds above. 2. When he says: No probably end could bring them loss or leave them happier than earlier. To him it seems that it doesnt military issue to anybody whether he is alive or dead.
