The main character, the married woman, in Gilmans The Yellow W everypaper is a character that I connect with deeply. She is misunderstood. The story begins with the married woman and her economize, a noted physician, arriving at a colonial residence for a period of rest. She has been exhibiting a sharp hysterical aim and her husband and his brother, a colleague, both agree that what she needs closely is rest.
